Born on 14 December 1546 in Knudstrup (Denmark) and of noble descent, he was sent by his family to study in Copenhagen, then to Leipzig to study Law, but he soon became entirely occupied with astronomy. WebTycho Brahe (1546-1601) was the most important observational astronomer until the invention of the telescope in 1608. From his astronomical observations, Tycho Brahe recognised the need to design and construct improved instruments. The question is whether tradition or progress prevails here (Wolfschmidt 2010).
