Small focal spot formation by vector beams
Webb21 juni 2013 · The formation of thin light tube by tightly focused azimuthally polarized light beams was investigated in the paper. It was theoretically shown that for the polar components the problem can be converted to a scalar one, and it can be solved by partitioning an aperture into narrow rings. Webb16 maj 2024 · The formation of a compact focal spot is possible at sharp focusing of the Gaussian beam when the order of polarization and the order of the vortex phase singularity coincide. When the orders of polarization and the vortex phase do not coincide, focused intensity distributions resembling “chamomiles” and “cogwheels”.

Webbspot of diameter d0. How big is the focal spot? Well, of course this depends on how we define the size of the focal spot. If we define it as the circle which contains 86% of the energy, then d0= 2w 0. Then, if we assume that the input beam completely fills the lens (so that its diameter is D), we find: 0 2 2 # f d f D http://satolab.tagen.tohoku.ac.jp/publication.htm
Webb31 aug. 2024 · The most important property of a converging radially polarized beam is that the focal spot size of its Ez component is smaller than that of the Ex component of a general focused beam with a same F-number, which is very valuable for optical microscopy [ 13] and particle acceleration [ 5 ].
