WebAbstract. This article deals with the history of medicine in the ancient Greece; from the cult of the God Asklepios, to the founder of the scientific rational medicine, Hippokrates. The humoral theory of Hippokrates is explained (the human body consists from four liquids) and his ideal of a physician's approach to a patient is emphasized. WebThe Greeks took these early medical practices and evolved them into what we know today as Greek medicine. Hippocrates, the founder of Greek medicine, is widely regarded as the "father of medicine" for this reason. The Hippocratic Oath, a pledge to practice medicine ethically, bears his name.
