The scintillation properties of Ce 3+ doped CsGd 2 F 7 and CsY 2 F 7 crystals have been studied at various temperatures. Upon X-ray excitation CsY 2 F 7 :5 mol% Ce 3+ shows fast ( tau approximately=32 ns) Ce 3+ 5d to 4f luminescence with a yield of 1400 photons MeV -1 at room temperature. http://scintillator.lbl.gov/scintillator_refs.html
