The project will be supported by the Department of Agriculture, State of Maine. Webbiochar produced by SBC. As a soil amendment, biochar improves the quality of soil through enhanced storage of nutrients and water in the humus layer, reducing the need for fertilizers. Once operating at design capacity, SBC will be the largest producer of biochar on the East Coast and one of the largest producers in North America.
